NIAGARA COLLEGE TEACHING WINERY

The Niagara College Teaching Winery is the center for wine education in the Niagara Peninsula.  With our focus on quality education, we believe in preparing graduates for work in

the "real" world. Winery and Viticulture students are taught the day-to-day responsibilities and inner workings of a winery, from planting grapes to selling wine. Employers are eager to hire our graduates. Niagara College received the Pinnacle Award 2004 for "the best contributors of quality employees to the tourism industry."

Winery and Viticulture Technician Diploma Program

The Winery and Viticulture Technician program was developed in direct consultation with the wine industry. A 25-member program advisory committee compiled this five- term, two-year program to produce highly skilled graduates ready for their new careers. The course focuses on the theory and science of viticulture and winesmaking, and its practical, hands-on application. The students also become proficient at sensory evaluation, studying both Old and New World wines. The third component of the program consists of is business, retail and management.

 

Wine Industry Certificates

These five specialty certificates have been developed to help individuals reach their professional development goals. The courses are offered to those wanting a career in related industries or to those already involved in the wine and hospitality industries.

  • Winemaking II Certificate
  • Viticulture/Vineyard Management Certificate

 

Each certificate requires a specific set of courses for completion.
