OUR STUDENTS

At Niagara College students prepare for an exciting career in the wine industry in either winery operations, viticulture, or sales/ marketing. The wine industry has worked with Niagara College to develop and fine-tune this program so that graduates are highly skilled and ready for their new careers.

This intense program uses our science lab, college vineyards, on-site equipment, and the Niagara College Teaching Winery, the only fully licensed teaching winery in Canada. The program offers a unique academic term that provides a placement with a wine industry employer.

Career Opportunities

This five-term, two-year diploma program is designed to prepare students for careers in the wine industry. Its focus is on the application of viticulture and winemaking theory to practical, hands-on situations. Students acquire skills in three specialty areas that provide a diversity of opportunities for graduates in either winery operations, viticulture, or sales/marketing. The educational vineyard, located at the Glendale Campus, serves as a living lab for students. It is divided into five major blocks  that illustrate and compare different variables important for grape growing. The blocks of vines include a vine library, spacing trails, trellis trails, rootstock trails and a hybrid training lab.
