JACK FORRER VINEYARD

A new 2.5 acre experimental vineyard was planted in spring 2002 for additional laboratory facilities. It is divided into five major blocks that illustrate and compare different variables important to grape growing. The blocks of vines will include a vine library of approximately 30 varieties, spacing trails, rootstock trails and a hybrid training lab.

Additional vineyards have been purchased and Niagara College now has a total of 38 acres of vines. These vines are being groomed to produce top quality fruit that is used in making our Niagara College (NCT) wines. Excess production is sold to local wineries.

The students spend time in the vineyard learning practical skills of pruning and tying, vineyard maintenance and canopy management.
